This piece of work was a deliberate challenge to myself, that I am glad to say I passed. I've been told that, on the portraits I draw, the eyes, of all the features, are the strongest part of the face or figure and I wanted to see how it would look if I took them away. So, I decided to cover up the eyes by using sunglasses. (Thus the title). I am pleased with the outcome of the artwork, but in all honesty, I missed drawing the eyes. I feel as though I've covered up a part of her personality. Ah, well. I'm also disappointed how the picture looks online. The actual art is much better...
For my medium, I used charcoal pencils, my favorite, and I drew the piece on 11" by 14" paper. However, the actual size is close to 13" by 18" as I glued the drawing onto a large piece of red construction paper.
Any and all feedback would be very welcome!!!!!

so, your ability to draw humans/portraits is impressive. & the fact that you just draw, draw, draw/get better, get better, get better is also impressive. I love how you just shade & don't make a mess & BAM: human's face on the page. but your focus on blocking the eyes made me realized I have no idea how you draw eyes...the only piece of your's that I've ever paid close attention to was the one of the lil' baby...and their eyes were closed...so now I'm curious. I'm going to claim your sketchbook next B day. mmkay. :)
I really love how this piece turned out. Youre right...the eyes are one of your strong points and are a huge element that draws attention to the face as a whole. And you did great with covering them up and focusing on the other features while still making it look complete. It's lovely. I don't think you should do anything different...to me it's perfect. One thing though....the real piece is much better than the picture posted for some reason. Anyway..good job.
Awesome! Your classmates have said it all. Keep up the excellent work.
I LOVE YOUR PORTRAITS.
That said...i will also tell you that the sunglasses in this piece are amazing. :) They look real and, as Mrs.Glenn said, you really can almost see eyes behind them.
