Once upon a sleepless night, I decided to break out my acyclic paints. It seems like everything I've done this year has been completely spontaneous, because I had no idea what this would be when I started it. I'm happy with the result, though. I wanted to sort of take inspiration from Picasso's Blue Period for my color project and twist it into my own thing.
I had a lot of fun with this, though maybe if I had planned it out before-hand, it would be more anatomically correct and all that jazz. I kind of like it warped, though.
I just want to clarify as a ending note that my emotions did nothing for my inspiration of this piece. As weird as it sounds, I was dancing around and singing out loud, very happily, as I painted. Soooo........I'm not sure where it came from.

First I must say that I'm quite saddened that you did not give me credits for providing your work's title.
To the others whom didn't hear our conversation, I decided to call it Pluto because recently, according to scientists, Pluto is no longer a planet; It's just a big blue ball of gas. So here lies the poor creature whom "doesn't exist"
This reminds me of the sculpture titled "The Thinker"...except (of course) this one is dead.
When I first viewed this, I thought it was a huge fetus inside a red womb...either that or a dead fetus that has grown into a human even after he was "aborted."
I love the use of dark blues and the spot of red that contrasts and compliments the blue hues. It's very reminiscent of Picasso's Blue Period; You succeeded in recreating his somber mood as your own. We all know that our Rachel is NEVER this down.
Very good work. :)
I actually think he's kind of a cute version of the thinker, even if the color scheme is entirely depressing. Sorry if calling him cute is offensive; I think it's the rounded edges of his body. The red spurts vs. the blue=contrast that I like, too. yerrrr.
rachel you are just too awesome for words. this is my favorite piece of yours by faaaaar!!!!!! =] i love the shades of blue (very van gogh). this pulls an emotion out of me everytime i look at it. lovelovelovelove
Whoa. I like this peice aLoT 8) I can definately say that you accomplished the Picasso objective. It kinda makes me wanna sadly smile for some reason. When I first see it I think of one word: Life. The red is really captivating and contrasts perfectly with the blue. I have no advice or questions on this one. I'm speechless. In a good way :D
Rachel! I wish i could paint like you, and i have no suggestions because it's pretty much perfect. Yep. The color scheme is great and it definitely expresses emotion.
I like this for a number of reasons: first it is so not you! Thank you for taking a risk. you were able to combine two artists and styles, Picasso and Rodin. It also reminds me of Alexa.
Thanks, everyone, for your feedback! It's extremely appreciated!
