Roll of the Dice/ Buddy

The criteria I received for the “Roll of the Dice” project were interior, balance, and color. I got the idea for this piece one day while I was messing around on photoshop with pictures of my horses. I decided to outline Buddy in black and white so that I could print him out and then bring him to life with paint, which is the medium I have the most trouble working with.

After I cut him out I placed him in a long, colorful corridor and left the white space for effect and movement. The mountain scene is meant to decribe the spirit of my horse and sort of contradict the horse being in a confined space. Also, I didn't intend to create pop art, it just sort of evolved into it, but I'm really happy with how it turned out. :-)

If there's anything I might could add or take away let me know, I'm open to criticism. Thanks!

I am a true horse lover, so I completely understand the mountain scene in the painting. I love the contradiction, and I think you worked very well with the medium. It's a great piece of work!

I like how you have taken something that you are interested in (horses) and used for this project that normally you wouldn't have thought of horses in association with those words.

Do I know you? Ha. Anyways, I really like looking at this one for some reason. I thik its your mixture of colors. It's really mezmerizing. I also like how it resembles pop art even though you didn't really mean to do it. I wish you could create 3 more and then paint them different colors. It would then take the pop art idea a step further. As your sister I know how much you love horses so I'm not surprised that you did something dealing with them. I really enjoyed this peice Katie. I always like how you draw and the things you come up with.

Thank You!! :-) I'm so glad I was able to combine the two things I love, horses and art. I think I may do what Kellie said and take the pop art thing even further, but I don't know yet. Next project, however, I'm going to stay away from incorporating horses, because I tend to do that to much. :)
